RE: How to order a Kindle Paperwhite from the UK (imported from US)

Does anyone know if an imported 3g paperwhite will work in the UK & Europe? I have a 3g Kindle keyboard which is great for basic free surfing on holiday!

Yes, 3G will work no problem on the Paperwhite. It has global 3G access.

You won't be able to use anything other than the Kindle Keyboard 3G for free web surfing though, the 3G versions of later Kindles no longer allow general web access, you can only browse Amazon & Wikipedia from them.

So there really is no downside to ordering a US version? No point in waiting for a UK one at all is there?
??

Apart from not being able to buy your books via the Kindle (because it uses the .com site instead of the co.uk), the only downside I can think of is if it breaks or develops a fault and needs returned to Amazon. You'll still get the same customer support but I'd imagine it won't be quite so simple to return it if you are having to deal with that via Amazon.com. However, once the KPW is for sale in the UK too, then that won't be an issue.

So is there a way of resetting it to amazon.co.uk
or could the books only be purchased on a laptop and transferred...
or something else?

No, it just means that you can't use the item in the menu to go to Amazon because it takes you to .com instead of .co.uk, that's all - You can still type in .co.uk manually into the Kindle browser instead. It will link to your .co.uk account and work as normal.

Would Bundlebox let you enter the value of the item as $69 (i.e. the price of the basic Kindle) or are there checks made on the item's actual value?

No, you can enter whatever you like they don't check, but UK customs may.
