Mine's still on pre-order, but the Surface is due out just around the same time. I was hoping for a bigger screen, which the Surface has. Comes down to price, etc.

It restricts the apps available to just a few and there is no Sky Go or IPlayer for example. I have gone for the Nexus instead. I love the quality of the hardware but the software makes it too inflexible for me.

Beware ...I needed to hunt the forums to get IPlayer working on the nexus (it can be done) but because
Flash is no longer supported for Android Jelly bean it didn't work through the browser.

Iplayer works a treat + my mate says he uses Sky Go. I watch Premiership Footy via liveonlinefooty.com + others VOD sites

RE: Pre-Order Kindle Fire HD UK

Another night's sleep! Might be sleepless! I still think the Nexus takes some beating for the software (and have heard that the lack of flash support is a problem sometimes) but the deed is done. Another factor (don't know how significant) was that all my focus is on Google (email, Chrome browser, calendar, tasks, contacts) and it appears that Kindle Fire is more into Microsoft Exchange syncing than Google. Time will tell if I have boobed!
That is a good book which is opened with expectation and closed with profit.

I have to admit, I have defected to the Dark-Side...... My pre-order has been un-ordered.
I am now a Nexus 7 owner.
Kindle still wins as an ereader though.

Nah, I need him here! Tongue I'm really looking forward to getting it. Not quite the same delicious anticipation as when the KK first came out, but close.
