RE: New Paperwhite E-Ink Touch Screen Kindle Announced

Hi Dusty,

Here's a link to my thread about the Kindle Touch I imported from the US 6 months before it came out here. It should answer most of your questions. http://www.kuforum.co.uk...

Obviously the Paperwhite has a slightly different set of features to the Touch so it's hard to be sure about every single one of them. The worst case scenario would be that some aspects would only be fully functional once it releases over here. For example, the shop in store icon on the Touch didn't work properly from the UK (just about the only thing), but as soon as the Touch went on sale here, it automatically started working on the import.

Even if it's out here in a few months' time, not sure I can wait! The only thing holding me back a little is that I found the Touch annoying in the early days when UK users were unable to purchase direct from amazon.co.uk. I know it sounds odd, but I just like browsing and downloading samples from the UK site, but then you couldn't buy the sample direct from the Touch until it came out here.
At very least it might be worthwhile waiting to see if there are any initial problems with the Paperwhite before importing it. No one knows yet if the problems that the Nook Glowlight has suffered (with hotspots appearing on the screen due to imperfections/slight damage to the top layer that is used to guide the light) will also effect the Kindle.

Unless you are absolutely desperate to own the Paperwhite, I think it makes sense to wait and see what the early impressions are....

Mind you, that's easy for me to say as someone who isn't desperate to get my hands on a new kindle Whistle
