Frozen Screen

After using my kindle(original with keyboard) for a year, a few days ago, the screen showed turn-off graphic screen and nothing I did(recharged, turned on-off switch repeatedly, held it and released it after 5-10 seconds, the green light came on and then turned itself off). How to get it working again?

RE: Frozen Screen

If you plug it in via USB, can your computer "see" it? If you can, try deleting the last book you added (you *will* be able to get it back later).

You can do a hard reset by holding the power button for *30* seconds, which (I assume???) will delete all the content.

If this does't work tech supports only answer is to buy a new Kindle with a 20% reduction. Not good enough. Part of the advantage of a Kindle is saving on shelf space, if you have to buy a new Kindle every 18 months you may as well buy a bookshelf instead.

This shouldn't delete any content. The only thing that will do this as far as I know is a factory reset from the settings menus.

RE: Frozen Screen

thanks for your excellent suggestions. I tried it all, then called Kindle tech support and they couldn't get it to work either, giving me instructions similar to yours. They eventually told me they're sending me a new Kindle e-book and to return the old one. I got it in 3 days and I'm really impressed with their response and fast, too. It was free, by the way.
