Possibly a new e-ink Kindle on the way.

There's been a lot of buzz around the expected release of new models of the Kindle Fire and now a sharp eyed journalist for The Digital Reader has spotted an FCC test report for a new e-reader filed by a middle-man LLC known to be a subsidiary of Amazon.

The documents for the mystery device coded EY21 were filed back in October 2011 with detailed information becoming public after 180 days, which according to the source means we could expect a new e-ink Kindle before Feb 2013.

Information in the filing is limited, but the device tested has 3G/Wi-Fi/GPRS and Edge connectivity as well as audio output and will be used to download books and periodicals.

It's hard to tell for sure if this is a new device or a modification to the Kindle Touch, so one can only hope that some interesting new hardware is on its way.

Journalists have just started reporting that they have been invited to a big Amazon media event on the 6th of September in California.

Exciting stuff... I'm hoping for a new version of the Kindle Fire.
