Seriously?

Are you looking for lists of paid ebooks? If so, I recommend focussing instead on doing some author interviews, getting reviewed by bloggers and networking on forums.

If GoodReads are accepting, I cannot find anything on their site to help me out. It might be just because I'm very tired tonight.

As for the recommendations you mention, there is definitely some food for thought there. Thank you.

Re: Goodreads...
Have you tried searching for your title, then if/when it's not found, is there a 'Manually add a book' link on the right?

I can't believe I didn't notice that link. Having clicked on it, it says only librarians can add books. To be considered as a librarian, you need at least 50 books in your shelf and I don't have anywhere near that many.

Oh well. I'll be sorting myself out with a website/blog tomorrow, to make a start...

RE: book promotion sites in the U.K.

How can the author tell how many books have been sold through your site? It is difficult to know which site has brought about the sales of a book during a KCD promotion (for instance) because authors sometimes use more than one site for promotion on the same day.

At a cost to the author of $1 per download for a 99p sale of which the author receives 70%, or less, it would take considerably more than your guaranteed amount for an author to make any money at all.

In short, I think your site is too expensive for me. Sorry, but thank you for the information.

Oh great. Another site where the middle man makes more than the author, for a fraction of the work.

(22 Aug 2012 02:56 PM)Maine writer Wrote:  Hi All,

I'm new to this forum, but have been very active on a similar one (Kindle Boards) in the U.S.

My short story, a prologue to my novel, recently became free on Amazon U.K. It's been free on the U.S. site for a few weeks where it's held the top three best seller positions and has had close to 20,000 downloads. These have, in turn, fueled sales of my book. The only way for readers to know about any of this is by promoting the free story's availability, but I am finding very few U.K. blogs or web sites that mention free kindle books.

Is there a link to a list like this that someone can post or can you recommend a few to me? I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Harriet

How did you let it go for free for a few weeks? I can only allow 5 days for free on Amazon select.
