new screen issue

hi all just a quick question.
i have a keyboard 3g that is out of warranty and i have had the screen replaced but it has a starnge issue in that the text shows correctly but any image including the screensaver has a faint outline and the dark parts are not dark or just visible, i can post a pic if that helps.
has anyone ever seen this or is it something new

I've not heard of this one myself, but by all means post a pic if you can as this would be very helpful.

RE: new screen issue

Hmm, that's definitely not looking good. Out of interest, who did the repair - was it Amazon or someone else?

The odd thing is that the text appears to be completely fine. I presume this wasn't the reason that you had the screen replaced in the first instance?

All I can think of personally to try is re-downloading the latest firmware and see if it can reinstall that and give it a shot, otherwise I think it may be a case of going back to whomever did the repair.

Also wondering - does it do the same thing in the web browser if you look at an image?

Could you tell me where you got your screen from? I have stripped my Kindle and have a cracked screen. I have found several screens for sale, all around £50 and it hardly seems worth it when a brand new one is £72 with the Amazon discount.

RE: new screen issue

When I broke my Kindle's screen (2 yesra old and out of warranty) I was offered a replacement kindle for £50. I was tempted to just get a new kindle but since mine is a 3g keyboard model, I thought the deal was a good one and Amazon performed a really efficient swap for me within a few days.
