That´s not a bad idea. And I have thought about letting it be someone who is a member of the church council. In that way they´d both be interested in keeping the costs down.

I used to do administration for a charity that ran parish owned almshouses - and that was exactly the attitude - very often if the Trustees themselves couldn't do an odd job type repair, they had a son or other relative who could, which kept costs down as much as possible.
