Smile TV series The Borgias

Is anyone here watching The Borgia's? I just finished watching Season 2 and am eagerly anticipating the third season next year. I don't often watch historical films/series largely due to the fact that they're so often historically inaccurate and as an historian this peeves me. I couldn't resist a look at The Borgia's though when it first came out - the Borgia family is a topic that I came across in both my Ancient History degree and my degree in Comparative Religion. Although the producers have taken enormous artistic license with the history of the Borgia family it's remarkably engaging television. Jeremy Irons is a wonderful actor and does a brilliant job at portraying Pope Alexander VI and the rest of the cast is equally talented.

It has a lot of sex and violence, which is a bit off-putting, but otherwise I'd highly recommend it.

The second season just started in the UK on Saturday. I watched the first series and have just started the second. It's a great programme and as you say, I'm sure it's wildly inaccurate, but very engaging to watch.

Glad to hear there will be a third series.

Lou it's slated for release early 2013 - I can't wait as season 2 has a real cliff-hanger ending. I won't say any more except that I'm sure you'll really enjoy this season.

Another Borgias fan right here, loved the first series and also enjoying the new one. An excellent political drama.
