Very interesting perspective. I think I've been guilty of this in the past--but now I try not to think of 'male characters' and 'female characters' otherwise I end up treating them differently. Best just treating them all as characters who need to be flawed and undergo growth for the story to succeed.

I was probably more the silence of the man type of character many years ago, but at the time my writing wasn't well enough developed for me to deal with flaws of male or female characters. Now with a voice, everyone has to have a flaw. Which of the male characteristics did you take on, Alex?
