What I Read

Highlights

Most of the books I read don't have enough "popular highlights" to count but I still highlight anyway, usually when I see a brilliant sentence or two that stops me in my tracks. Thought I would post a couple:

Painting by Numbers by Sally Patricia Gardner
I was getting dressed. Red undies this time. I took them all to the charity shop a few days later.Read more at location 4251
(That was a real WTF reading moment, the thought of anyone taking their naughty knickers to the charity shop just really made my jaw drop)

Butterfly Weed by Donald Harington
I don’t love Mary every day. Some days it hits me all of a sudden in a way I can’t express that I love her more than anything ever got loved in the history of mankind, but other days I don’t even think about it.Read more at location 579

(Just a beautiful phrase and so true, if you love someone you dont think about it all the time, you just do it)

Kiss Me or Die by Scott Nicholson
Miles away, people huddled in front of the blue campfires of television sets,Read more at location 1706
(just a wonderful sentence)

Yes, I love that sentence, probably for the same reason that I like Billy Bragg lyrics - it's quietly witty and so true when you think about it. You can picture a scene there from just one sentence.
