Unable to get onto wifi

My KIndle had some kind of update about 10 days ago, since then have been unable to get access wifi.
Since download wifi on/off on menu replaced by Aeroplane Mode,when I view wifi networks my router
shows up but will not connect. Router working as used for laptop and used since got Kindle in January
the wifi strenght bar next to battery shown no bars, have restarted Kindle but still will not work.
