I think I would probably wait on the Kindle Fire 2 before making a decision, though I'm tempted by the Google Nexus too.

The common sense part of my brain says I should buy neither as I have a kindle, android mobile and a laptop. A tablet would not do anything that those three can't already do between them. The less sensible part of me wants a new shiny thing to play with though.

I am hoping that the Kindle Fire 2 will be out by my birthday (October), always a good excuse for an upgrade Smile

I am also hoping that Amazon does the decent thing with it's money converting, rather than the $199 must mean £199 that most retailers seem to think is right!!
I too have had a sly ogle at the Google Nexus, but will hold out probably.

I never did get around to buying a laptop, could never justify getting one, when I have a pc that does the job, and no real need to be online out 'n' about, would be handy occasionally of course. My mobile phone is 8 years old! and while it was one of the first that was capable of internet connection, I have never used it for that either.
A tablet would fit in very nicely, therefore Smile

If my laptop died, maybe. Much as I'd like a tablet, I can't justify the expense until then.

I don't think I would buy one ... I have a regular kindle, and for the kind of reading I tend to do (novels with few graphics) I'm not sure I'd see any benefit. I have a computer and smartphone for other tasks a tablet might fulfil. Used to have an iPad but ended up selling it due to lack of use, so I suspect I'm just not a 'tablet person' =)

I have to admit to not using mine very much, but if I didn't have an iPad and had easy access to the app store, I probably would much more.

There's are plenty of nice looking apps coming out for it, so hopefully, by the time it's actually released here officially there will be plenty to download.

I was lucky enough to pick up a second hand one at a bargin price (less than a new kindle) and am delighted with it so far. Simple to use, no real issues with downloading books (via laptop & USB cable) I was not particulary worried about the lack of 3G as wi-fi is readily available. Screen clarity is excellent even in sunlight. 8GB might seem on the low side but have not found it a problem so far - the books are small and I have minimal apps / music as yet.

I'll wait for the Kindle Fire 2, then it's not a sure thing. I have an iPad now as well as a HTC Flyer. So I have both an android 7" device and an Apple 10" device.

I also have an Kobo Vox and to be honest I haven't picked up and used in ... longer than I can remember. So unless there was some unique incentive to get a Fire I can't see me going that route. That said who knows what form the Fire will take in the UK when it eventually arrives. So I voted wait for Fire 2 as it was more suitable rather than my first thought of 'No'.
