I was so excited the first time I saw my book listed on Amazon. Apparently now, a monkey could do it.

(19 Jun 2012 03:04 PM)Notoriety Wrote:  "Lorem ipsum" is dummy text that you can apply directly in Word 2010, possibly other versions and has been available on the net for a while. It's fairly often used for trial layouts when the actual text is not finalised.

It's probabaly best described as a Latin variant, i.e. a mashed up Latin almost but not quite nonsense text, with some actual genuine latin words but others with odd bits added or removed. When I first tried to apply my A level Latin to it it drove me bananas until I realised what it was. The first two words should be dolorem ipsum, tanslated as "....pain itself...." It's very loosely taken from a work by the major Latin author Cicero said to be written in 45 BC, "De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum", The Extremes of Good and Evil. Who said Latin was boring?! Read about it at at http://www.lipsum.com/

Somebody obviously prepared this as a test for publication and it got into the wild, so to speak. Is there a way for an author to delete it from Amazon?

Tony

You can unpublish it, but it takes several hours.

I have to agree with Ken and Rosen. It's quite depressing to see things like that if you're a writer who has worked really hard to produce a good book. It's equally disappointing as a reader to find that kind of junk because it makes you wary about trying new authors.

This is why actually taking the trouble to use the 'Sample' feature is so important - know what you're getting before you one click to buy Smile
