Amazon provide the option so they should make those lists a true reflection of the overall opinion of its customers. I got a reply back this morning to my question where I cited the Crime & Punishment example and they've somehow misunderstood it, answering something I didn't even ask.

You do surprise me, David. KDP staff's level of comprehension generally leaves me flabbergasted. It's as if the people answering don't really understand the written word, take a random guess as to what it means and select an answer from a list of pre-prepared responses. Very rarely do I get any sense out of them.

I fear you may be right. My sales have suddenly halted and they'd been ticking over. I know things drift down but this was abrupt.

Notoriety, I think you might find this link interesting. It's about statistical formulae to predict the authenticity of a product's reviews.

I've been baffled by this for some time.
Thanks for the guidance

It would be great to understand the reason Amazon UK decided to rate books with an average below 4.8 so low in the scheme of things. Anything over 4.5 is great when a book has many reviews. Anyone know someone on the inside. Must be like Willy Wonker's chocolate factory. Smile

Fortunately Steve, To the Grave has an average of 5.0, so people sorting by average will still find a Jefferson Tayte book and hopefully go off in search of the prequel.
