Yes, I was annoyed to discover it updated itself without my say-so and without even asking me first.

I'm not a parent, so don't need parental controls and, like some of you, am not happy about airplane mode, either. I've not noticed any great improvement in my 'reading experience' but we'll see how it goes.

One of the most important aspects of the new software update is the support for Kindle Format 8 books which can include much better layout options for visual books and will also enable a better degree of compatibility between Kindle Fire books and e-ink books where previously all you could do was work to the e-ink specification or risk losing a huge share of the market.

The highlights of the update are :

[Image: 1651494050.jpg]Parental Controls: Parental Controls now allow you to restrict access to the Experimental Web Browser, Archived Items and the Kindle Store.

Comic books and Kindle Panel View: Kindle Panel View provides a magnified, panel-by-panel presentation of the story in the authors own sequence for a more immersive reading experience. Books that support these features will be available from the Kindle store over the next few weeks.

Children's books and Kindle Text Pop-Up: Kindle Text Pop-up provides improved book layouts, making it easier to read text over images in children's books. Books that support these features will be available from the Kindle store over the next few weeks.

Kindle Format 8: You will notice formatting and layout improvements and a better table and image viewer that allows both panning and zooming in Kindle Format 8 books.

Dictionaries Collection: We've grouped all your dictionaries into a system Collection in Home and Archived Items called Dictionaries.

New Font: We've improved the reading font to be higher contrast and more crisp so that you can enjoy a paper like reading experience. Some books will also now offer a font specified by the publisher. If this is available for your title, you'll see the Publisher Font option, which you can turn on or off.

To find out in more detail about what the update includes and also to download the new software for your Kindle, go to the Amazon page here : http://www.amazon.co.uk...

Hi I'm not sure where to ask this , so here is as good as any. I have the kindle 4 wi fi. How do I bookmark a web page? When I'm on the page I want I bring up the menu and select add bookmark but I can't seem to find it anywhere after. Not in my clippings. It would save a lot of time if I didn't have to type in the address every time.
