Paid advertising - what works?

I have £150 to spend on advertising for my new paperback, which is also available for Kindle.

What forms of advertising have others found effective for books?

My profit per book (Kindle and paperback) is about £1, so I don't want any click-based advertising where clicks cost more than 10p.

I'd be interested to read other people's opinions on this.

RE: Paid advertising - what works?

I've done Pixel of Ink and Kindle Nation Daily paid adverts. Pixel of Ink was particularly effective, getting me to almost the top 100 on Amazon.com - no change at all on Amazon.co.uk! You have to book months in advance, though - they sell out of spaces fast.

Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks. I didn't realise Pixel of Ink offered paid advertising opportunities. Kindle nation Daily is pricey, isn't it?

Rosen, if you send me the £150 I'll hang a sign from the back of my pushbike seat saying 'Pompomberry House out soon on Amazon' - can't guarantee you a place in the top 100 though!
