Yes, I think this is a great idea. I believe quite a few writers do this. I've seen some - mostly for fantasy novels I think - with very impressive graphics and doom-laden music but not actually saying very much.
I've even attempted one myself but it is really just a sort of slideshow of pics of Scotland with some captions telling a story, and piano music ('Land of the Mountain and the Flood') by one of my sons. I feel it may give the impression the book is a travel guide rather than sci-fi! I haven't actually told many people about it yet so it's quite untested as a marketing tool.
I've been trying to persuade my other son, who is an experienced filmmaker, to film an interview with me walking through one of the places my fictional town is based on, but needless to say he is always too busy!
