Guardian piece on author cooperatives

The Guardian has a piece of author cooperatives:

http://www.guardian.co.uk...

"A new public service is emerging online: authors and readers who are sifting through the morass of self-published books out there to find the quality titles amid the dross. I was alerted to the development of what are being called "electronic author cooperatives" by ghostwriter and novelist Andrew Crofts, who writes about them on his blog."

RE: Guardian piece on author cooperatives

Yay! I started "Do Authors Dream of Electric Books?" with Susan Price (the blog was originally called Kindle Authors UK, only amazon stamped on that... the use of their Kindle name is mentioned on another thread here somewhere, I think).

Originally we began the blog with the idea of promoting our out of print backlist titles that we'd self published as ebooks, but then others came along who were self publishing their frontlist as well, and it grew from there. I had to take a step back from the blogging recently due to deadlines for my new series, but most of the authors at Do Authors Dream... have been tradtitionally published at some stage in their careers.

If you want to take a look, the blog is at http://authorselectric.blogspot.com

Great that it has this mention in the guardian!

I saw the Guardian piece - congratulations for getting the mention. I use Kindle in the name of my book-blog so now you are scaring me. How did amazon stamp on you? Kindle gets used loads on Facebook so I thought it was okay.

Best wishes, Cathy

I'm glad you wrote about not using Kindle in your blog-title. I e-mailed amazon and got chapter and verse on trademarks so have changed mine. Never mind - just lost all my readers. Oh well back to the drawing board.

Best wishes, Cathy

Cathy, amazon were quite understanding but they did phone me to "chat" about it... so it's just as well you contacted them before they contacted you. At least you got to change your blog title earlier rather than later, and I'm sure your readers will return if you let them know of the change! (Nice blog, by the way.)
