RE: Film adaptations that surpass the books...

Jaws is my favorite, the film far superior to the book!

Otherwise, many of my favorite films are novel adaptations which were very faithful to the books, but also brilliant films in their own right: Silence of the Lambs, Rosemary's Baby, The Haunting/Haunting of Hill House.

I let my kids watch Jaws not so long ago, explaining to them that when it was released it was considered the ultimate in horror and gore. They howled with laughter all the way through - guess they must be spoiled by all the advances in special effects since then LOL

Jaws The Ride has recently been closed down in Universal Orlando. It was one of our favourite rides for it's cheesyness
Please put a bowl of water out for hedgehogs and other night-time visitors, you might just save their life.
While you are at it, feed the birds too. Thumbs Up And come and talk about it at Garden Wildlife Forum

I went on the Jaws ride at Universal Studios in California a few years ago - maybe I'm easily scared, but I nearly jumped out of my seat when he appeared! Shocked

Smile Susanne.

I actually quite like the 'Jaws' novel. Saying that, the film is fantastic.

I know it's not a movie but I think the Dexter shows are good. Has anyone read the books?

Meeee!

I liked the books. The storyline differs in ways I won't mention though.
I read the books before I knew there was even a series (no general TV, just one in the bedroom for dvd's etc), and it was because I enjoyed the books that we found out about the series, then went on to watch them.

In fact I think only the first series sort of follows the books, but you would have to read them yourself to find out how Smile

Ooh, that's great, Kindleee, because I picked up a DTB of the second Dexter book last week. Now I have seen the 2nd series of Dexter, so hopefully the story is different enough for there to be plenty of twists and turns Smile

I agree with Jaws. And I recently watched the re-release in the cinema. It was terrifying.

Jurassic Park is a better film than it is a book.

Die Hard is better than Nothing Lasts Forever, though it is a good book and worth a look.

Also, The Social Network massively surpasses its source material.
