Replacement Parts Kindle 4

Hi

Where can I get replacement parts to fix a broken Kindle? Eg replacment screens.

You'd have to contact Amazon direct and speak to them about offering a repair service I'm guessing unless you have the know how to replace Amazon's own screens with generic e-ink screens.

Probably your only hope would be salvaging broken Kindles for usable parts otherwise.

Hi there

One thing about the Kindle 4 - it's pretty much impossible to replace the screen. The difficulty (apart from opening it) is getting the old screen off? You need to use a heat gun or hairdryer to melt the adhesive the screen breaks into tiny pieces when you remove it. You need to totally remove the broken screen before replacing it. Other kindle models allow you to simply lift out the screen and drop in a new one.

Buying the screens is pretty easy - it's fixing it that's the issue. Also you need to weigh up the cost of a new screen against the value of the Kindle 4 which is £69 (checked today on Amazon.co.uk)
