Buy Kindle books for others?

Hi.

Is it possible to buy a Kindle book for someone else using amazon.co.uk? I can't see how you can do it.

Not currently no, it's impossible to 'gift' an ebook. Apparently Amazon are working on it, although I haven't seen any official statement to that end. I was hoping they would have it in by Christmas, but it seems unlikely now - they've already had a few years to work it out with the previous versions of the Kindle in the US.

I will be asking friends/ family for Amazon gift vouchers for Christmas as this is the only way they can buy me ebooks (saves them wrapping it up too).

I love receiving Amazon gift certificates! But I'd really love the option of buying someone an ebook for their Kindle. Wouldn't it be awesome if they announced such a thing the beginning of December?
