UK Kindle Touch will be released in April. Now available for pre-order
After a successful launch in the US, the flagship e-ink reader from Amazon is finally going to see an official release which will come as welcome news to those who have been longing for a touch based Kindle option. Kindle Touch models imported from the US have been working well in the UK since launch and an official UK launch should iron out the only known issue for imported models which is the lack of access to the Kindle store via the screen menus.
Strangely, as we reported a while back, the rest of the world have been able to order the Kindle Touch from Amazon.com for a while now, with only the European stores failing to provide a service. Finally we can look forward to being on an even footing with the rest of the world.
The UK Kindle Touch comes in two flavours, the Kindle Touch Wi-Fi @ £109 and the Kindle Touch 3G @ £169 with no option for an ad supported model. Compared to the US prices of $139 (±£89) and $189 (±118) respectively for similar models, this does seem rather unfair pricing particularly when the Kobo Touch, the Kindle's main UK rival can be picked up for as little as £87. For those prepared to take a few extra steps it may still be worth looking at importing a US model, full details of how to do this can be found here.
The Kindle Touch can be pre-ordered right now from Amazon UK and will start shipping on 27th April 2012
