What I Read

John Carter

Anyone see John Carter? Dreadful title, but I really enjoyed the film.

I have a soft spot for the film so I am biased. Princess of Mars (much better title) was the first book I read, aged about 13 or so. Burroughs' writing is a bit dated but I reread it recently and still enjoyed it.

I think they did a really good job bringing it up to date for modern audience. I wasn't too keen on the first 5 minutes which felt too much like Flash Gordon, but once past that it was very enjoyable. And Dejah Thoris ... Smile

It's a shame it got poor reviews from critics. It seems to be getting a wide range of reviews that are very polarised. People hate it or love it.

Some Mixed Genre films work...... Aliens V Cowboys was great.
John Carter of ER had more Cred than this guy.
I believe it will go down like HEAVENS GATE & WATERWORLD...................CRAPPOLA (that cost the Studio a fortune)

Don't hold your breath for JC2 (Jesus Christ 2 has more chance of being produced)

You can tell the sex of an ant by dropping it into a jug of water.
If it sinks: girl ant
If it floats: boy ant

You cannot be serious about Cowboys and Aliens, it was one of the worst films recently made. I fell asleep and I didn't care, pure tripe (in my opinion anyway Smile

)
Haven't seen John Carter yet, but will be on my 'to see' list.

With all the mixed reviews I'm not sure whether I should suggest seeing it or not? A lot of the critics slagged the film off straight away. There have been quite a few good reviews though. I genuinely enjoyed it. I'd suggest giving it a go.
