RE: Procrastinating with harp

I've mentioned to you before Katie, that my daughter has a lap harp. She's played piano since she was 8 and recently bought herself the harp. We send her harp music for her recent birthday, although she's capable of playing a lot by ear. I really enjoyed your tunes and was staggered to realise they were written by you too. Not 'cos I think you're thick - just because they are so good!

The next book you read could be the best book you've ever read.

I love the pictures that go with your tune, Katie, as well as the very delicate soft music. Are the birds storks? (I'm useless at birds)
I think your harp may be similar to a Scottish clarsach - there is an antique one in the National Museums of Scotland which I discovered through family history research had once belonged to my gt-gt-gt.....(not sure how many greats there) grandmother. Sadly it doesn't have any strings left but I like to go in there and have a look at it sometimes. They usually have a recording of clarsach music playing nearby.

RE: Procrastinating with harp

Thanks, Ignite. Only two of the tunes I have up are mine, of course. The other two are traditional Irish tunes. I only put stuff that I've composed or arranged myself on Youtube though, because I hate worrying about whether I'm infringing copyright. Even with the Irish tunes, YT has sent me a challenge and I've had to write back and point out how old they are.
Cecilia, the birds are egrets and herons, I think...and maybe an ibis or two. I can't remember without going back to look. My harp is a little like a clarsach, in that it sits on my knee, but I think the clarsach has wire strings and you play them with your fingernails. It has a lot more bell-like sound than the ordinary harp.
