RE: Using your own pictures for the Kindle Screensaver

Hi Zappo

Just wondered if you could help me out. I tried the original way that Lou had posted, but it does not allow us to do it as someone else mentioned the keyboard does not have a 0 on it! So then I have just downloaded your software to try it that way, resized and grayscaled my images, followed all the instructions on your software, It told me my images had been sent to my kindle, then told me that my kindle would restart after a few minutes. I have waited ages now and not had a restart, this does not seem to be working for some reason, could you help me out please? Hope this isn't one of those fraud ways to hack the kindle!!
Thanks in advance
Natalie

Not to worry, I've installed the hack from Google, It is sooooo easy! I love it. Got some gorgeous pics of my dog as my screensaver now amongst others of flowers etc. It's great! I can say it didn't affect my kindle in any way at all, it is extremely easy to do, just time consuming when you have to change the size of your photos and change them to grayscale, but that's it. I'm impressed it is so easy!

Will post pics soon x

Hi Zappo,

I tried to install the hack but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. Maybe because I updated first to 3.3.

Does not work on Kindle 4 - serial number not recognised.

RE: Using your own pictures for the Kindle Screensaver

Hi everyone, my apologies for the delay answering!

Norman: 3.3 should work, several Kindle owners with a 3.3 firmware managed to use the Screensaver Installer from my website. Actually one of them even helped me fix a bug (see this thread: http://www.mobileread.com...). Not sure when you tried, but the new version works on 3.3. Please let me know whether you have problems! Thanks!

jhlb: the Kindle 4 is pretty hard to hack. Experts from all over the World are trying and as soon as they manage I'll incorporate the tool into my app. However, it is true that I should put a disclaimer, warning people that it won't work on a K4. Thanks!

ebookpublisher: glad you liked it! Thanks a lot for your feedback and for helping the site grow!

RE: Using your own pictures for the Kindle Screensaver

Hi,

Will someone please confirm as I am ill today and can't concentrate properly. Is there really a way of putting your own screen saver on your Kindle 4 because I spent over an hour resizing and grey scaling pictures of my favourite authors and poets only to discover that the keyboard wouldn't allow it. If there is a way I will read the full thread and find it out.

thank you
