Great list. I think being able to carry all of your books with you is the best reason. Espcially when you're going on holiday! Wink

RE: 10 Reasons to buy a Kindle this Christmas

There's only one thing wrong with this mouth-watering post about how marvellous Kindles are. It's lacking advice on how to convince someone to BUY you a Kindle for Christmas. I've tried hints, I've tried leaving notes, I've tried subliminal (kindle) messages in (kindle) my emails to (kindle) people. I've even tried the Jedi mind trick, and ended up with two used droids. How do I get someone to buy me one of these things?!

Information RE: 10 Reasons to buy a Kindle this Christmas

:Hello Hello to everyone - new to kindle here - and the clue is in my user name - until reading this forum today - I knew nothing about Kindles.
Reading the "10 reasons to buy a Kindle" has helped quite a bit.
I apologise if I have put this in the wrong thread.
Here is a bit of background information -
I am thinking of buying one for a really good friend who has been a great help to me over the past few years.
Heart
He loves reading but over the coming years he may start to experience problems with his eyesight,
We go camping quite a bit.Clapping hands

Can anyone give me advice as to which model of Kindle would be the best to buy for him?
Many thanks.

Hi There, and welcome to the forum.

Based on the things you mention, I would recommend the Kindle Keyboard 3G. All Kindles will allow you to change font size on them for easier reading, but the Kindle Keyboard 3G although a bit more expensive will allow you to also listen to audiobooks and have almost any book read out aloud to you via the text-to-speech, something that the basic Kindle doesn't have. With the 3G, you will also be able to download books and even surf the web whilst out camping even if there is no Wi-Fi available. If cost is an issue, then I would still recommend the Kindle Keyboard without 3G as this will still have the audio functions.
