Noob in need of help with ice cream sandwich gone wrong!

Hey ya'll,

So I'm sure you're tired of noobs posting but I just need a little help. I rooted my kindle last night and then tried giving it ics 4. So, I wiped everything (as instructed) and before hand I added the cm09 file along with the gapps. Yet, when I downloaded and extracted these two files they came out as multiple files so I first extracted the files to my desktop. I then transferred the individual files to the root of my kindle. When trying to "install" them , the individual files(which cm09 and gapps had been comprised of ) popped up but I couldn't do anything with them (flash ,etc). So, then I tried condensing all the gapps files into one "gapps" folder and all the cmo9 files into one "cm09" folder and transfer it to the root. Same thing happened. What I think I should haev done is not extracted either and just have sent the unzipped files to the root of my kindle...woops...I am a dumb noob after all! So, now I'm stuck with my kindle and when I turn it on to "normal mode" (not the TWRP) the "kindlefire" insignia pops up at start up like normal but it just sits there like that. Any idea of what I should do and where I can get the files to do it so that I too can have the LIMITLESS POWER OF ICE CREAM!!?? MWAHAHAHAHA...really though..any help ?

A few questions first:

1. What did you use to root your kindle? kindle fire utility from xda?
2. Did you install TWRP?
3. Where did you get the cm9 files and google apps files?
4. Whatversion of the kindle fire OS are your running?

The google and ROM files should be left zipped.

After rooting you should install TWRP. Then connect the kindle to your PC. Transfer the zip files to your kindle, just copy them anywhere but remember the location.

Re-boot your fire, it should go to a screen with kindle fire in blue / white and say press power button for boot options. Press the power button and 3 options will come up:

1. Normal boot
2. Recovery
3. reset boot

Press the power button until you get to recovery and leave it. This will boot into TWRP. In TWRP select backup - which will make a backup of your old OS (just in case anything goes wrong). You can copy this file to your PC at a later date so safe keeping.

After you backup the OS then select wipe and wipe the factory OS. Once this is done select install and choose your ROM you want to install (the zip file).

Install the ROM zip and left it do this. After this is done re-boot the kindle fire blue / white logo - select normal boot and let it start up.

Your kindle should now be running whichever ICS ROM you chose.

To install google apps, boot into TWRP, choose install and select the google zip, install and reboot in normal. All google apps should now be installed.

I am running AOPK otter box build 35 which is a stable version of ICS9 and work just fine. You can get a link to this on xda developers.
