Dark Tidings is definitely my bestseller to date... or, being my début novel, is it my onlyseller to date? Ken - it has just become your best seller by default then! Congratulations!

RE: So what is a bestseller???Spot on, Thepuss! This marketing ploy has been used/abused by print edition publishers for years. Their marketing departments constantly scour the sales figures looking for the tiniest justification to apply the 'Bestseller' label. |

Although technically, you could claim to have written a bestseller if your book sneaked into the top 100 children's books about African politics., for an hour, I would have a heavy conscience if I called that a bestseller. If, on the other hand, you've topped a broad category for many weeks, I think you'd be a fool not to adjust your marketing strategy accordingly. Generally, I think if you're going to call yourself a bestselling author, you have to qualify it somewhere fairly prominent, so that the reader can make their own mind up about your achievements. |
