Hi,

First up, I'm wondering if you really need to try to update Flash player because it's already installed by default. If you are seeing warnings about it not being installed, you need to enable it in the browser. To do this open the browser, click on the Menu icon at the bottom of the screen and choose Settings. From there, scroll down until you find 'Enable Flash' and then set this to either Always or On Demand.

Whilst you are still in the settings menu, you will need to turn off Accelerate Page Loading or you will be unable to use iPlayer. Once this is done, to use iPlayer, just go to the iPlayer website as usual and you will be able to watch videos as normal and in full-screen.

Aside from this, you can install any Android APK file using ES Explorer, or you may also want to take a look at GetJar, details here: http://www.kuforum.co.uk...

I installed the ES file explorer however when I try to installed apps in app store the warning about us address needed is still there. did i miss any step?

You dont get the apps from the apps store if you have ES Explorer, you need to find the apk files on the web, then put them in a folder, search for the files that will be in the SD Card location on ES explorer and install from there

Just a quick addition from a newbie that may well be covered elsewhere:

I used ES explorer install from this thread which worked perfectly, thanks. I then found a firefox apk file on the net and have discovered that by using firefox you can browse the slideme.org app store and download the apk files direct on the Kindle.

At least this gives an option for browsing and installing apps direct on the kindle that the silk browser was blocking...

Hi

I'm new to the kindle fire in the UK!! Could you possibly please advise how I find the apk files on the web and then install from there.

Otherwise if using firefox is easier could you provide a step by step guide!!

Like I said I'm new to this!!

Hi Patela,

Everything you need to know should be in the first post in this thread. Finding APK files is a case of searching on Google, or taking a look at GetJar (also linked from the first post). GetJar has its own installation manager, otherwise, you can just download an APK file direct.

Lou, clear and precise instructions enabled me to download ES explorer. Unfortunately as you mentioned "take care to tap only once' or multiple copies will be downloaded. How do I delete them? regards petelen.
