The PRS-300 is the older model now that the newer ones have benn launched, so it could be the shops moving out the last of their stock to make room for the newer models in time for Christmas. Also as it only has 512mb of internal memory with no way to expand it's memory unlike the regular editions, it doesn't give you much for your almost £100 price tab. As well it has only a 5" screen rather than the usual 6", so for only ten pounds more you can buy a WiFi only Kindle with much better specs and a lot more bang for your buck as the saying goes. Or rather pound in our case. I really think this is shops rushing to get rid of the older models now, WHSmith has been selling the 300 for several months at £99 as well, it's not as good as the newer version of this model so they might drop again in desperation to get rid of them but even then given the problems this entire series of touch screen models had I'll stick to my old Sony 505 and ofcourse it's baby sister, my 3G Kindle. The newest pocket edition is the PRS-350 which is said to not have the glare problem it's predecessor had is selling for £159 which is funnily enough £10 dearer than the 3G Kindle. Kinda ironic. ![]() I really think they need to drop their prices for the newest models to compete with the price Amazon is selling their Kindles as I think ereaders will be on a lot of Christmas lists this year. ![]() |
RE: Sony price dropThe kindle is streets ahead and I am really pleased I waited for the kindle 3 instead of opting for the sony - no contest!! A midget psychic escapes from jail....Headlines: Small Medium at Large

RE: Sony price dropAt the time I said if I can't have a Kindle then I will do without. At the time it was being offered as a gift. Perhaps I was mad but I could not read for long on the computer so felt that the readers on offer were going to play my eyes up. I am so glad I held off for the Kindle. I just had a feeling in my waters that we would eventually get them in the UK. Now I'm just going to wait for the DX to come to the UK. |
RE: Sony price dropI had looked a while ago and decided that they were too expensive compared to just buying books. But of course once I started reading about the specs of the current crop of ebook readers had and their cost, the Kindle 3 went to the front of the list. |
