Hi Plummielass,

Snap, I'm originally from the Elephant (I live in Bournemouth now though). Haven't been back there for ages - is the shopping centre still pink?

Stu

When I lived at the Elephant & Castle (just off London Rd) there were only good old fashioned boozers. All 'in' pubs were down the Old Kent Road, and as they were for the trendies not us Rockers me & mates never went there!

I think the pub you refer to was in the Boroug Rd and was called the Duke of York. This was the main pub we drank in. And the Albert Arms (Garden Row/Gladstone St) was the one on the end of the street.

Lou - Yes it is still pink.

I remember when I passed it for the first time after it had been painted and it was so badly done you could see the original green underneath.

It's a real dump now. Think it may be due for demolition or a good refurb.

All the underpasses going towards Draper House have gone as has the Post Office. If you are interested in Walworth et., there are 2 great sites on Facebook Now and Then Walworth and Elephant Boys & Girls. Some great photos and lots of chat.
