I'll try (purely for Lorraine's sake, who has hopefully woken refreshed from a good night's sleep without any nightmares! Wink) to bring the thread back on track...

I really liked Prosper, he was so real and human. Sometimes when you read crime fiction, you sort of know that the "hero" is going to come through whatever happens, but with Prosper, I could smell his fear, it was very powerful, and it really was like being right there beside him. That takes very good writing!

You seemed to be thinking good of him, whilst I was thinking he was a bad egg and should have acted more responsibly Big Grin

RE: Bookclub: The Discussion of The Kult (contains spoilers)

<looking rough from last night> Hello

I find that the fact that Prosper is a rather "normal" hero and not a superdude brings the story more to our own level, and we identify more with him... I know I wondered a lot about what I would do if I was in his situation... because we hopefully all have friends we would do almost anything for, and it could happen that one day that anything could be something that we do not really want to do...

RE: Bookclub: The Discussion of The Kult (contains spoilers)

I did want to make Prosper more 'human' so to speak, in that I wanted him to have normal fears and aspirations. So he's certainly no supercop. At the end of the day, police officers are just like anyone else. Some are crooked, some are nasty, some are nice. I have a couple of friends and a relative that are in the police force. I won't say what category they fall into though Wink
