"this item cannot be opened"

Hello!

Does anyone know why it is that when i´ve dowloaded the books of amazon, some of them free, some are paid for, copied them to my kindle and some i don´t have a problem reading, but most of them wont let me access and display this error message : this item cannot be opened because it is licenced to a different user. Delete the item and dowload it from your archived items or purchase a copy from the Kindle Store.

I have deleted them, downloaded again but i just cannot work this out! i bought 7 books a few minutes ago and all of them display this message after i´ve copied them to my kindle. I havent got Wifi but would that make any difference?

thank you .x.

Hello jojo and welcome to the forum. Smile Is your Kindle registered to the Amazon account you are downloading from? That is the only reason I can think of for the downloads not working. Even though you can still buy books and download them to your PC, you still need the Kindle registered to be able to then transfer them to your Kindle. At least that is what I believe to be the case. Let us know if that works, if not give customer services a ring and see if they can help you. Smile

Welcome Jojo

You've come to the right place - it was great for advice when I first joined and I learn lots of new things here every day. I suspect that Sujay is right about the Kindle registration. You need to ensure that the Kindle is registered to the account the books were bought in as that is the only way you can have multiple readers of an Amazon book. Once it is you can send them to your Kindle via Whispernet. Just go to Manage Your Kindle and find your list of books and you will have a drop down box with the names of the dvices registered. Books from Gutenberg or Manybooks.net are DRM free so you can download them via USB to whatever you like that will read them.
