Boockclub: change, please read if you are a bookclub member

After discussion, it has been decided that the discussion thread for the current bookclub book of the month will open as soon as the book is selected as the book to read. The reason for this is that some people read the book early in the month and want to post their comments on the book then while it is fresh in their minds, rather than at the end of the month. There will be spoilers in the thread, so anyone who hasn't read the book and want to read it without knowing anything about the book need to stay clear of the discussion until they are ready to post.

Good ... thanks for this, often I read the chosen book at the beginning of the month and by the time the thread opens I've read so many other books that I forget what I wanted to say.

Even tried taking notes but found that unless I totally read the book again through I couldn't make much sense of some of them.

I personally regret this as I am always likely to join the discussion late. Sometimes the discussion lasts a while as it has for In the Blood but mostly it's only a few days. Some people may have read the book before and have recommended it - so they can have a book club from the off but the rest of us are picking up what they have recommended after the vote. It's probably too late for a compromise - start the discussion 10 days after the vote....
