RE: Price Fixing News

As always it's the big companies that rule the roost. I refuse to pay more for an e-book than DTB. In fact I then refuse to buy the book in any format! Maybe if enough people did that they would soon change their policies.

Trouble is, Sujay, that so many can't be bothered to make a point. I'm with you - if enough people made a stand they would have to take notice! Smile

How long will the investigation take? No doubt these companies will carry on doing what they do until the 'findings' are released which is probably a long way off!

I've done the same, I was looking for the latest book by main stream author Harlan Coben and was appalled by how costly his books were on the Kindle. I refused to pay that price and I found cheaper alternatives which have been great. Funnily enough it only took me a few minutes to find a pirate copy of the latest book which I never downloaded or read but there's only one reason why its freely available. I also wrote an email to the publisher explaining why I had bought the Indie author and why I would no longer buy their author, I also asked the question of why they thought his book was available illegally, this was about 6 months ago and I'm still waiting for their reply Whistle

Just to be stubborn I do this anyway regardless of whether the 'big guys' notice the loss of my meagre book budget but I love to add insult to injury so to speak by then spending said budget with their more reasonably pricing adversaries. Namely the independent publishers, good thing is I've discovered a heck of a lot of great authors and books which is all good for me.Whistle

My old favourites who publish with the 'big guys' maybe I'll pick up their book on sale later on somewhere. Shame for hard working authors but I have to live and read within my means and always strive to get value for money so to speak in everything I buy.Big Grin

RE: Price Fixing News

I totally agree, I have a set budget of no more than a fiver for any kindle fiction book. I'd not pay more than that for a paperback so I refuse to pay more for a kindle edition. I am currently desperate to get Shatter the Bones by Stuart McBride as I adore his work but at £7 for the kindle I'm holding my horses and waiting it out till it drops. In the meantime I'm reading some new authors I'd never have found if not for the kindle and really enjoying them too!! Big companies have taken the micky for long enough, no more, not with me anyway!!!
