What I Read

2nd Kindle ordered, but question ....

I've not had a good look around for the answer to this yet but I thought someone on here might know, to save me having to route around to much.

I've ordered a Kindle Wifi for my Mum who's going into Hospital in a few weeks for a knee replacement. I've obviously ordered it on my account so that's the account it will come linked to, and I wasn't planning on setting her up her own, just leave it on mine.

Will this cause issue, will both Kindles have access to all the books on the account ?

How is work ?

Yes, you can have multiple kindles (up to 6 I think) on the same account and they will have access to any books ordered on that account. You can even have the same book on both kindles at the same time.

Me and OH have a Kindle each on one account. When you buy books, you then select which Kindle it is going to on the drop down menu on Amazon and which account the money comes out of (ie, your mum can set up her own creditcard details for books she orders in future). The books you order come straight to your Kindle, but the books she orders will show in your Archive and you can just move them into yours and vice versa.

We are currently reading the same book, but it's not a problem, just remember not to zync to last page read if you are prompted, this usually comes up if you have "closed" the book and opened another and then go back to the shared book. Otherwise it stays on the page you are reading as normal.

That's interesting Susanne, I didn't know you could specify a different payment source through the one-click system. Does it offer you that option when you register the second kindle?

My OH is just about to order one and we were going to put them both on my account, I just presumed I would have to keep track of how much he was spending or do a turn-by-turn gift voucher purchase.

Sorry Alex, I have misled you there actually. I too am keeping a check on how much OH spends on my account. I was confusing it with other things he has bought on my account which were not 1-click. You would have to go into your account before ordering and change the card details - and then make sure you change them back to yours after.

Thanks Susanne (and for the PM), don't worry. Although I did get excited about not having to balance the 'books' at the end of every month. Think we'll just take it in turns to buy vouchers and see how it goes.
