I came across this website that gives the hygiene ratings for most restaurants.

You can also just type in the town and it will list every establishment with a certificate.

Oh, Lord! Ignorance is bliss as far as I'm concerned (until I get food poisoning). I used to work as a waitress in many a restaurant, and what went on behind the scenes would make you shudder!

Still, it's good to have a resource to look up places before booking. Thanks, Joo!

I checked out a local Italian that we really love and they got a 2! Will I go again, ...yes. Shall I ask them about their hygiene certificate?Huh

I posted this link to people at work and everyone is busy checking out their favourite restaurants. Great site, Joo

If this includes takeaways all you need to do is go over the other side of the street first and look above usually where living quarters are situated... There's one place I know of that has cardboard and newspapers for curtains! No chance of me eating from there. Once went to a fire call at a well known local eatery and found 20 or so buckets filled with water and each had two or more chickens in... Outside in the back yard!Thumbs Down

Just had a look at the web site and it confirmed the takeaway got a 1. No brainer on that one then.

I will never forget being stuck in a traffic jam, watching this guy unload a van and taking the boxes into a kebab/fried chicken place. Much to everyones horror, one of the boxes broke, and the raw chickens fell out on the road. They were totally uncovered with no protection on them at all, and he just picked them up off of the floor, piled them on top of other chickens and took them into the shop as if nothing had happened! Dodgy

Sujay, I remember a story about a girl who had her boyfriend round for thanksgiving dinner and so he could meet the family. The lass went into the kitchen and brought out the turkey and as she got to the table... she dropped it on the floor!

Her mother quickly piped up "never mind dear pop it back on the plate and fetch the other one from the kitchen".Whistle
