I think your problem is you are opening the menu from within a book. If you go to the home screen first, you should then see all the options.

Otherwise, you could do it all on the Amazon websites ...

The first step should be to log in on Amazon.com and go to the Manage Your Kindle section and then 'Manage Your Devices'. Next to your Kindle Touch make a note of the serial number, and then select 'Deregister'.

Now, login to your Amazon.co.uk account and do the same thing but choose 'Register a Kindle' on the top right of the page and enter the serial number.

Your Kindle should now be registered to your UK account.

Thanks Lou worked a treat but had to do a reboot to get to home screen as there appears to be no navigation icon from within book to get to home screen!

Is this normal or antther operator fault' lol.

Thanks for your help.

Now if the fire had a read aloud option the touch would be obsolete.

Just to add to that (which sounds like good advice), you may find it more practical to go into 'manage my kindle' via the website and change your country option to the United States - either using a friend's address there, a Bundlebox address (if you have one) or just making up an address (which is what I did initially!). I've found that by using an American address, the whole thing works much smoother as you can't access amazon.co.uk from the Kindle e.g. if you've downloaded a sample from the UK site, you can't then purchase it direct from the Touch (although you could have it sent to the device direct from amazon.co.uk. Doesn't make sense, does it!). Since I've had the Kindle, I've been swapping my country back and forth to get the books I want, as some things are available in the UK but not via amazon.com. However, by and large, it's a better Touch experience if you just register a US address and stick to using amazon.com.

Hope this makes some sort of sense - it is stupidly confusing!

Hi,

First, thanks for the great thread.

I'm having the same problem as Alex. But I still can't register my Kindle when i deregisterit from Amazon.com.

I live in Sweden, can that be an issue? Maybe Swedes only can register it at Amazon.com?

All I get is "Your Kindle account is currently registered at Amazon.com. Go to the Manage Your Kindle page at Amazon.com." - Even though it's not registered at Amazon.com.

Lou, I found your forum while searching for details about the US Kindle touch and use in the UK.

Do you know if the kindle store will now work on a US bought kindle if I register it to a UK account (now that you can get the touch in this country)

I use the shop in store on my old kindle all the time and would like to know if it is worth picking up the touch when I am in the US next week.
