All methods work except for using the menu item called "shop in the Kindle store" - you can just go to Amazon.co.uk from the browser instead.

I personally would miss the Kindle Store quite a lot - but it would save me money!

RE: Kindle Touch - Does it work in the UK? Answers Here

I'm tempted to order one in time for Xmas. But I'm wary of the warranty implications so hope someone can clarify. I'm aware that in the event of problems the unit would need to be shipped to the USA for repair or replacement.
But would Amazon be prepared to return it to a UK address, given that it is not officially available here?
Would it be possible to send it to Amazon and then have them send the replacement to Bundlebox for return to the UK? Would HMRC charge duty/vat on the replacement?
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks

I think Amazon.com shipping a repaired / replacement Kindle back to the UK would be entirely at their discretion so I wouldn't count on it. I can't see a problem with having it shipped back via Bundlebox, but you are going to be racking up a fair amount of costs in the process.

VAT/Duty is not payable on repairs, but it is on replacements. Don't ask me why.

Speaking truthfully, I think if you order a Kindle Touch from the US as things stand, you would have to be prepared to accept the risk that if the Kindle breaks or goes wrong, that's it, end of story.

Thanks Lou- my thoughts exactly. I'll wait for a UK release.

If someone visits the US, buys a Kindle Touch and takes it home to wherever, surely the warranty would not be void? The fact that Amazon only ship within the States hardly means that the Kindle can't be taken out of the country. Or does it? Just wondering.

The warranty wouldn't be void, but it would have to be returned to the US to get it repaired or replaced which is going to be troublesome and expensive logistically.
