Replica: thriller, romance, tiny bit of sci fi...and this week, reduced to 99p

I wasn't at all sure which genre thread to put Replica under. But a lot of readers have enjoyed it, so even if it doesn't sound your usual read, it might be worth checking out the sample. It's a page-turner.

BLURB
When Beth's eccentric boss at the government research lab asks her to try out his latest duplicating machine, she'd be crazy to do any such thing. She's not cleared for this, insured or authorized; it's late Friday evening and she wants to go home. But Beth is fatally unassertive. She agrees, and unknown to her another Beth is created.

The replica overhears MI5 chief, Sir Peter Ellis, discussing her future - or rather, lack of it. Terrified, she goes on the run. Penniless, friendless and homeless, she has to find the inner strength and aggression to survive on icy London streets.

Spec op Nick Cavanagh likes to win. Though Beth thinks he's outside her apartment to protect her, in fact he's hunting her double. As the replica proves difficult to catch and the stakes get higher, he has to decide whose side he is on.

S. Horrigan, AMAZON VINE TOP 500 REVIEWER, wrote: “Read it! You won't regret it! Another cracking story from Lexi. Don't be put off by the seemingly science fiction based plot. The real story is the way that the two Beths deal with situations that they find themselves in and of their discovery of their real self. As with Lexi's first book, presentation on the Kindle is about as good as it gets. Overall: This deserves nothing less than 5 stars! An original, very well told intelligent story that had me turning the pages right to the end.”

RE: REPLICA: thriller, romance, tiny bit of sci fi...

My spirits were raised this freezing evening by a review on Replica:

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting, gripping! 8 Feb 2012
By Milly (UK)

This was recommended to me by a friend who raved about it. So I downloaded it, and soon got gripped. Really enjoyed this book! I would not call it a sci-fi as such - to me, the sci-fi aspect is background and the real story is survival and determination... Overall this book was well written, kept me turning the pages, likeable characters, enough intrigue to keep my interest levels up and a really great and satisfying twist end which of course I won't spoil for you all! Once I finished, I felt satisfied and delighted I'd listened to my friend's recommendation.

Keep at it Lexi! You are a very talented writer indeed!

I've got a Countdown Deal on Replica this week - it's 99p and 99c for the next seven days.

The adjective most used in the reviews is 'gripping'.

Thank you Grace! The promotion is going well, with the help of a Bookbub ad.

Good to see this is going well, Lexi. It's one of my very favourite books. I felt as if I had become one of the characters and it gave me quite a roller coaster ride. So yes, a thriller it is. Nice romance too. It's one of those books where the idea stays in your mind.

Lucky you. I've applied to Bookbub 4 times - rejected each time. Disheartening, especially since I have enough good reviews et.c Hey ho.

I think some genres are more competitive than others vis a vis Bookbub. I applied for thrillers, and was offered Science Fiction, which is less popular, therefore cheaper and possibly easier to be accepted for.
