Calibre send to device question

Hi There

I have just converted some books using Calibre, but I dont see the "send to device" icon, it was there yesterday.

I can see it in "preferences" but cant see option to add it to toolbar

It only shows up when the Kindle (or other ebook reader) is connected.

Hi Phil

Discovered that thanks, great prog, just needs getting used to.

Once converted and sent to Kindle, do you remove books?

Calibre acts as a back-up for your Kindle. Any problems, and at least your ebooks are safe!!

Thanks guys, but is that not double saving, as books are safe on Amazon are they not?

George

Only the books you bought or transferred via Amazon are stored on Amazon's servers, the ones you transferred manually via Calibre won't be backed up other than in Calibre.

RE: Calibre send to device question

Gotha ! I recently bought one of those dvd'd on e-bay, 45,000 books for £2.99 so I have been opening some of those using Calibre, then converting to Mobi.

I belkieve I don't need to convert a pdf file as Kindle can read pdf.

Does all above sound right to you Phil.

I've not tried many pdf's other than technical ones and I've found the kindle doesn't do a very good job with them. I really don't think the kindle is the best device for them. Where possible I would always prefer to use a mobi file.
