How to buy a Kindle Touch from the UK
So you want to buy a Kindle Touch but you live in the UK...
Here's how you do it... First a brief description of the process. There is an online service called Bundlebox which makes it possible for you to buy items from the US without a US shipping address. What happens is you sign up for a Bundlebox account and this gives you your very own shipping address (which is kind of like a PO box number at the Bundlebox warehouse). You then place your order on Amazon.com and use your Bundlebox address as the SHIPPING address. You can pay with your UK credit card OK and use your UK address as the BILLING address. Once the Kindle Touch is dispatched you will get an email from Amazon saying it has shipped and depending on which option you chose (ie super saver delivery or next day) it will arrive at your Bundlebox address. Bundlebox will then email you to say it has arrived and you can then arrange for it to be shipped to your UK address by Fedex. They will even sort out the import duty for you. So, Step-by-Step to ordering your Kindle Touch for delivery in the UK This is not as complicated as it looks so don't worry 1. Go to the Amazon.com Kindle Page here and decide which Kindle you want to buy. Make a note of the price. You may want to consider the Kindle with adverts as this will lower the amount of VAT and import duty that you have to pay. You can remove the adverts at a later date if you want. 2. Get a cost estimate for shipping from Amazon to Bundlebox here : http://www.bundlebox.com/shipping_estimate/ For a Kindle Touch, enter the following:
Now, Click 'Get an Estimate' and write down the total cost in £ We're not done yet, because you need to add the Amazon shipping and Sales Tax
Next, add your Amazon shipping cost to the Kindle Price from Step 1 and multiply this by 0.06 (6%) for the Sales Tax. Make a note of the figure. To calculate the total cost add the following together : a) Your bundlebox estimate b) The Amazon shipping charge + the Sales Tax converted from $USD to $GBP (converter here) This should now be your Total Cost for the Kindle Touch, shipping from Amazon to Bundlebox and then from Bundlebox to the UK, but bear in mind exchange rates will change slightly and there may be differences in currency conversion for your credit/debit card. Assuming that you are happy with the cost estimate 3. Create an account with Bundlebox. Note, there is a $15 charge to create the account, but this will be refunded off your first shipment. If you decide to cancel you can also get a refund. (See their T&Cs) 4. Once your account is created you will see your new Bundlebox US address. Keep this address in a window or make a note of it. 4. Go to Amazon.com and order your Kindle Touch 5. At the checkout, use your new Bundlebox address as the SHIPPING address 6. Enter your UK credit card details for payment and use your UK address as the BILLING address. 7. The order should go through and you should receive a notification from Amazon.com 8. Wait for Amazon to deliver to your Bundlebox. Nothing will show in your Bundlebox address until the Kindle Touch ships from Amazon and is delivered there a few days later, so go and read a book until you get an 'items dispatched' email from Amazon.com 9. Once your Kindle Touch arrives at Bundlebox they will email you asking you to arrange shipping to the UK. Login to your account and you should see it in your 'Parcels in your Bundlebox'. You can now arrange to pay for Fedex shipping back to your UK address as you did when calculating the estimate in step 2. 10. Just wait for your Kindle to arrive. You can keep track of the FedEx delivery via your Bundlebox account. ![]() Disclaimer... I have just ordered a Kindle Touch this way myself and it is the first time I have used the Bundlebox service. Everything seems simple enough and if you search on Google you should see that lots of people have used Bundlebox successfully. HOWEVER, please don't blame me if it all goes pear shaped for some reason - you do this at your own risk. Also, don't forget that there are going to be people selling the Kindle Touch on ebay too, but looking at the prices, it's going to be either the same or more expensive than doing it with Bundlebox. RE: How to buy a Kindle Touch from the UK(04-10-2011 10:43 PM)Mitre Wrote: hiJudging from the posts about the basic Kindle - it looks like they ship it in the Kindle box without an additional box (unless you mark it as a gift). If you estimate the size of the box to be 25cm by 20cm by 7cm and weight 0.8 lbs and its the $139 Touch you are ordering then the price breakdown on Bundlebox is as follows.... Total shipping charges: £25.82 Import duty & VAT: £23.15 Import duty & VAT handling charges: £2.83 Product costs: £89.94 Total costs: £141.75 A $99 adds Touch would cost about £110 - BOTH of these estimates do not include any sales tax that Amazon US may apply I estimate that when the no-adds Touch is released in the UK the price should be £110 to £120 (if Amazon follow the same pricing principle they used on the basic Kindle) |

Hi Mitre,
My apologies - I missed your post otherwise I would have got back sooner. I ordered the Kindle Touch 3G with next day shipping from Amazon. With next day shipping from Fedex the estimate was £190 in total for everything. Barnacle Boy! We have to find those stolen Naggy Daddies! |

RE: How to buy a Kindle Touch from the UK
The prices I posted earlier are incorrect.
I believe there is a 6% sales tax to be included and the shipping rates are different from the bundlebox supersaver rates I quoted so a $139 would probably cost minimum of £158 delivered a $99 Touch would probably cost a minimum of £124.... |

RE: How to buy a Kindle Touch from the UK
Next day Fedex!!!!!! Are you made of money???! Last time I used next day Fedex guaranteed by 1000 EST for a slim envelope of documents to the US it was about thirty quid and that was five years ago. And they couldn't find the address (although it was absolutely correct), the docs arrived 3 days late and as it was a UK quarantine licence fast-tracked to us in a day from DEFRA the cat missed her plane from Atlanta.

RE: How to buy a Kindle Touch from the UK
I thought Amazon CS had stated that the US Touch will not work in the UK if you try and buy from the site. I know we all want one, me included. I just have a horrible suspicion that we are likely to have to wait several months before we get them over here.
