Are publishers are getting better at digital than they were a year ago - things like formatting properly, and realistic prices, and getting their backlists out as e-books?

What do you think?

I think some are, but others, and I could name names, are not. Some seem to being OCR to simply copy print versions. This is fairly easy to spot, mainly because there are usually no chapter breaks and some words don't come out well.
I just hope it gets better over time.

In America, at any rate, Amazon has been contacting authors if they get a complaint about typos or formatting from the public. Presumably they are doing this to publishers too, but I don't know if it's happening here. It's bad for Amazon if some books are poorly produced.

I agree with that Lexi, but apparently they are "unpublishing" books and then telling the author. I wonder if they are even checking that typos are even there beforehand? I've seen some dubious stuff on another board that shows some amazon employees with barely any grammar knowledge telling an author about typos! (that aren't typos but part of local dialects)

Yes, I saw that. I'd be jolly fed up if it happened to me.

Me too. You would think they would go with some "warning" system, like you have x days to upload a new version. Then they need to really sort out pushing corrected books out to customers, though apparently they have legal issues with being able to do that.

I was thinking about this "sale" yesterday, but couldn't find any promotion on Amazon UK.
Anyone know anything about it now? I'm down to only 80 in my TBR pile Big Grin

I thought the same joo. I did wonder if it was still going ahead because they usually promote discounts well.

Only 80 in your TBR pile? I can do better than that, must be well over 120 now, but still I go and check Amazon every single day! Undecided My Mum asked the other day 'how many books can I have waiting to be read? Is it OK to have about20?'! If only I had as few as that! Blush

Likewise I've heard nothing more about it on neither Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.
