What I Read

Anybody read Flatland ?

I notice that flatland is now available on Kindle.

For the uninitiated, its a very short work of fiction about the inhabitants of different dimensions and is on the surface very simple

I absolutely loved this book, it had me thinking for ages because while the concepts are very simple, for me it drew a lot of parallels with the complexities of life and the functioning of society in the modern world. It's one of those books (like very good art and some films) that just leaves you pondering for ages whether the creator intended it to be that way or whether you are reading into it much more than was ever intended.

Incidentally, I recently watched the film Antichrist by Lars von Trier which left me musing for days in much the same way. I would highly recommend this film but have to warn that it is highly controversial and very. very graphic.

Thanks Kuf. Although £2 with Amazon, it's free with Gutenburg Press.

On that basis, I have added it to the pile! Kindle on its way and should be with me for Tuesday.
That is a good book which is opened with expectation and closed with profit.

I love flatland, remember being told to read it at college Smile... I got it from manybooks but the pictures (ASCII approximations* - even on a PDF they look pretty bad!) don't seem to have come out at all well on the Kindle...
@Lou - How's the Amazon version for pictures?

RE: Anybody read Flatland ?

As I mentioned earlier, I got this book and duly tried it. Sorry to say I did not get on with it. I suppose all tastes are different but at least I got a free version. Maybe if I had paid for it, I would have liked it, if only for the fact that I had paid hard cash for it!
