What I Read

RE: Reviews

If I was waiting for a "professional review" of most of the books that I like, I'd be dead in my grave before I got a chance to read one again! My preferred genres will never ever be reviewed in the telegraph etc If I use the press reviews from publications dedicated to those genres then they would have me believe that every new release was outstanding (I think they are basically in league with the authors!).

So I do rely on the Amazon reviews. I tend to take most notice of the 3* ones as they are more even-handed. As someone else has said though, I will have a bit of a look to see what upset the 1* reviewers.
I always write a review myself after I have read a book too.

I think it is false satisfaction in 1 star reviews. It may teach tolerance. Otherwise there is nothing one can do about bad reviews. Oh, yes one can do something; be careful what you write in your next book...lol
