Can't set SD card to expand internal storage

I've recently decided to make more use of my Kindle Fire HD 8.
I've put in a new SD card of the right specification, and have an option either to use it to extend 'internal' capacity, or to use it as 'external' storage.
Unfortunately I cannot select the internal option. I try to hit the button, but the attempt is just ignored.
What I can do is to select the external option, and from there choose what I want to store on the CD card.  That's all easy enough, but then I can't find an option to move what is already in internal storage onto the SD. -- several gigabytes of audible books?
Is there a way to use the SD card to expand internal capacity ?
If this stated option is actually not available, how can I move the books to the SD card other than deleting them all and downloading them again to the SD card?

Thanks

your misunderstanding i fear

if its internal memory, then its internal memory, you don't move anything, the device just sticks where it feel appropriate, all you do is keep loading stuff on it

if you go the external route, then you need to instal a file manager ap, try ES file manager, then you can move stuff where you wish
