Are old kindles still good?

I’m buying a kindle 3rd generation because I prefer the old look and tactile keys/keyboard. Are old kindles still good to use? Or do they slow down horrendously like iPhones do after a few years.

RE: Are old kindles still good?

The failure rate over time would put me off. I've had a few older kindles fail completely.

RE: Are old kindles still good?

I'm still using my kindle keyboard bought in 2011 and used for at least an hour every day since then, often much longer,
Some of the keys are a little sticky now, and sometimes the screen loads blank but moving on or back a page clears that. However in the last few months the battery has started to fail and only goes about a week to ten days between charges rather than the normal month.
