Kindle has deleted books and collections which I want from my library

I have now had a problem which Amazon are unwilling to acknowledge or resolve. 18 months ago my Kindle had a software update while buying a book. Immediately it crashed and all the books and collections disappeared. I was advised to do a complete reset and redownload all the books. This took about 7 hours as I then had about 250 books. So far so bad. The Kindle had now developed a fault which meant it rebooted on a random basis at intervals of between 10 minutes and 90 minutes. Irritating as the Kindle defaulted back to the start of the book each time. I gave-up trying to get resolution from Amazon after about 6 weeks of trying and defaulted to using a Kindle I had purchased for my Mother who didn't get on with the electronics.
The other week I was purchasing a new book when I saw the Kindle delete 5 collections out of my 17 and all the books in those collections while buying a new book. I rapidly switched to aircraft mode and went to my library on my laptop where some of the books remained, I lost about 70+ books. Amazon are hopeless after two weeks they keep sending me emails of which this is an example;

But no resolution. 
I am minded to sue through the small claims court at their head office in London.
Jeff Bezos has a lot to answer for. I do not accept automatic updates from Microsoft or Apple as poorly written programmes play havoc with the system and also fill-up the memory to no benefit
Anyone any views??
