Thank you for this information. It has been very helpful as a friend has the opportunity to get a sony e reader for free using points he has been awarded for 25 years service where he works. I was asked how easy it was to get books for etc but did not know where you got them or if you could use Amazon. I can now go back and tell him to buy a Kindle and use the points for something better!

I bought a Sony PRS-505, the day they came out in the UK. My wife kindly bought me a Kindle for Xmas, and for ease of purchase and choice, Kindle and Amazon win hands down.
Be good, if you can't be good, be careful. Wink

I must say that having read your comments I like my Kindle more than ever Kindle Smile - but I do wonder if some of those who buy the Sony ereader are surprised/ disappointed to find that they can't access the vast Amazon Kindle bookshop, especially when advice in shops can be misleading.

I'm glad this is on the discussion board. My friend has a sony ereader and we did not know if she could get my book on it. You've answered this for me. Thanks.
So to be clear, if I did put the book in ereader format, it could be copied illegally?Tantrum

If you publish an ebook through Smashwords you can opt for it to be available through Sony as well as other outlets such as Kobo (W.H Smith) and Apple. Readers can also download books directly from Smashwords in a variety of formats, including Epub for Sony, PDF or HTML for online reading. This can help to make your book available to friends with a variety of ereaders.
